The blonde shook her head, "Copyrighted." Hailey was meticulous in her job and always wanted to be prepared. "I actually have been trying to order some adaptations of them, but they can't ship until a month from now," she sighed, rolling her eyes in frustration. She finished her coffee and placed the empty cup on the table. "Anyways," Hailey put emphasis on her amused tone and reached for her laptop, "Today we're diving into some fourteenth-century songs," she explained, scrolling through and showing Vanessa the slides. Hailey snorted, "They're not monsters, V," she mumbled, causing her friend to arch her brow at her words. "So"-Vanessa began once her coffee was finally ready, going back to her seat-"What're you teaching those monsters today?" she asked, nodding towards Hailey's laptop that was on the table, a PowerPoint presentation on the screen. It'd started during her college days: at first, she thought it was only due to stress, but then the thing started occurring more and more frequently and persistently, and she'd quickly had to understand that her love for sleep just wasn't reciprocated. "I haven't slept for basically three days, don't know another way to function properly," Hailey shrugged her shoulders.Īlthough she really enjoyed sleeping, the blonde also happened to suffer from insomnia. "It's not even ten in the morning," she commented, finding the strength to get back on her feet and go make herself some coffee as well. The brunette widened her eyes at her response, though she wasn't really that surprised. "Number three, actually," she replied, bringing the cup to her mouth and having a small sip of the dark brown beverage. Hailey glanced at her, taking a seat as well. Her workday hadn't even started yet and she was already done with it. "Coffee number two?" She asked, closing the door behind her and then plopping down the first seat available, letting out a loud sigh. The moment of silence didn't last long, the quietness was interrupted by the arrival of her best friend - Vanessa entered the room with her typical lack of finesse, making a bit of noise. It was something she'd become accustomed to, and Hailey had even become jealous of it at times.
Not because she didn't enjoy the company of her co-workers (she even considered some of them as her best friends), but because she didn't mind being alone. She was happy to be the only person there.
